MPF Conservation has assessed and conserved furnishings of upholstered and non-upholstered objects for Hearst Castle.
From childhood, Kate and Mitchell loved the castle and working on its artifacts was the fulfillment of childhood dreams!
Kate’s image of the Castle, left;
below, two bedrooms we happened into.
Please excuse some of the fuzzy images,
as this was our first digital camera (very early cameras then) and the images were quite small
and we were getting used to it!

Included in the Hearst Castle pages are:
- Hearst Castle (this page)
- Hearst Castle Gothic Sofa
- Passementerie (shows the Gothic Sofa trims)
- Hearst Castle Assessment 1
- Hearst Castle Assessment 2
- Hearst Castle Varguenos (Bargueños) Assessments

and Hoyt Fields, curator, during the onsite
assessment of the Gothic Sofa.
Below, a few general images from assessment trips to the castle. This is one of the best places to visit on the West Coast! If you can, stay overnight, make reservations for tours on each day so you can take two tours while you are there.

She has a similar view. Note the lovely vargueno and stand in her bedroom.
