MPF Conservation assessed the Jantzen Beach Carousel  in 2018, and subsequently treated two horses and several decorative objects from the carousel. This page is the overview of the cantles from the horses we had in studio.

The cantle sits on the back of the saddle, and in the case of the carousel horses, they are beautiful detailed decorative details.

They are relief-carved, highly detailed, and fabulously painted, and so much fun. Each one is completely different, and bound to raise a smile in adults and children alike. A documentation effort should go forth on just these motifs!
